Extract From "Lets not Screw it, Lets Just do it"

Whilst I have been finding this book inspiring on so many levels, the main one that touches home is "do some good". In particular is the thought that money is for making things happened has totally changed my relationship with money in my life. here is an extract I wanted to share

"It's said that love of money is the root of all evil. It doesn't have to be. Money can be used for good. The biggest charities in the world were started by rich men and women, but some began with next to nothing. Harvard, the wealthiest college in America, is a charitable trust. It started with a few books and just $350. IKEA started in a garden shed. It's parent company is a charitable trust, The man that dreamed up the Big Mac started life selling paper cups....His company now gives $50 million a year to charity.

So money can be a force for good. But you don't need to be rich to do some good. Children used to collect silver paper and empty cola cans to raise money for good causes. Today they go on charity runs or donate to Live Aid. My son Sam and I are going to do an Arctic crossing to raise awareness for global warming. There are many ways of helping others. One very simple way is to do no harm and that costs nothing at all."
